Parks and Recreation Department offers Movies in the Park and more in October

The City of Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department will host a series of Movies in the Park at Spring Lake Park each Thursday in October. The line-up includes Boxtrolls on October 8th, The Lego Movie on October 15th, E.T. on October 22nd, and The Town That Dreaded Sundown on October 29th. Movies will start at 7 p.m. near the airplane, and is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair. Refreshments will be sold. Movies in the Park is sponsored by Coldwell Banker Elite, United Health, Express Employment, and the City of Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation.

The annual fall festival will be held at Spring Lake Park on Thursday, October 22nd from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and will include a hay ride, pumpkin painting, a costume contest, games and more. This event is free and open to the public.

The fall yard sale and electronics recycling event is slated for Saturday, October 31st from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Call (903) 798-3978 to reserve your booth today.

The Collins Senior Center will continue its activities for senior citizens throughout the month of October. The schedule includes an AARP Class on October 13th from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., an Evening Social on October 20th from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and an Oldies but Goodies Dance on October 30th from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. The Collins Senior Center is located at 3000 Texas Boulevard.
