The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday night near the intersection of West 14th and Crockett Streets.
Officers were dispatched to a shots fired call at that location at approximately 6:00 last night. Within minutes of that call, other officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Apple Street where a shooting victim was reported to be. It was determined that the 28 year old man found there had been shot at the scene of the initial call on West 14th Street.
According to witnesses, a group of three men got out of their vehicle and approached another group of men who was already at that location. After a brief verbal exchange between the two groups, they began firing handguns at each other. Both groups fled the scene before officers arrived.
The man, who suffered a single gunshot wound to his left arm, was treated at Christus St. Michael. It is unknown at this point if he was involved in the confrontation or a bystander.
Detectives and crime scene technicians responded to the scene to investigate the shooting. Officers observed that at least one vehicle at the scene had been struck by bullets, and they recovered several spent cartridges as evidence.
