The City of Texarkana, Texas strives to ensure all residents are aware of available resources in the event a natural disaster was to impact our area.

The weather forecast for the Texarkana area indicates the potential for rainfall in varying amounts. While there is no immediate forecast of severe weather in our area, local public safety and emergency preparedness personnel remain vigilant and are prepared to respond if needed. Additional personnel are on standby in the event weather conditions change and become a threat.

All citizens are reminded of the following precautions:

Slow down and drive carefully. Allow additional travel time to reach your destination.
Avoid entering flooded roadways.
In the event of a power outage, intersections with non-working traffic signals should be treated as four way stops.
If you are concerned about flooding on your property, plan ahead. The City does not provide sandbags.

With the potential for weather later this week, and due to recent repairs, City officials will test the tornado sirens Tuesday, August 29 instead of the regularly scheduled Wednesday test.
