On Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 6:00 p.m., the Wake Village Police Department will hold a public training session on the civilian response to active shooter events. The training session will take place at Wake Village City Hall which is located at 624 Burma Rd. in Wake Village, Texas.

This training is part of Wake Village Police Department’s Tuesday Night Talk series and is focusing on the serious topic of responding to an active shooter. These unfortunate and horrible events are happening more frequently and all over the country.  From the church shooting in Daingerfield, Texas (1980) to the recent school shooting in Prescott (April 2019) proves the Ark-La-Tex is not immune to these incidents. This training will give citizens options on how they can respond if ever caught up in a mass shooting or terrorist attack.

The instructors for the training are Officer JB Johnson and Interim Chief of Police Todd Aultman, both of whom are certified law enforcement instructors and are certified to teach this curriculum which comes from the  Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) center at Texas State University.

There is no charge for this event.
