Obituary
Ray Neil Wingfield, age 92, of Texarkana, Texas, died Thursday, July 9, 2026, in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Wingfield was born August 7, 1933, in Okolona, Arkansas. He was retired Associate Warden for the Federal Bureau of Prisons; U.S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War and charter member of the Liberty Eylau Baptist Church.
Ray was a lifelong musician and an avid outdoorsman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ann Wingfield; three brothers, James Wingfield, David Wingfield and Thomas Wingfield; four sisters, Alice Wingfield, Marjorie Wingfield, Wanda Wingfield and Dixie Wingfield.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Ray Wingfield and Melanie Wingfield of Texarkana, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Ann Simmons and Tom Simmons of Texarkana, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Betty Wingfield of Okolona, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Dr. Rebecca Mason and husband Carl and Rex Thomas Simmons III and wife Brianna Connaughton; two great grandchildren, Amelie Mason and Axel Mason and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Powell officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1-2 prior to the service.
