According to Red River Army Depot’s Facebook page Red River Army Depot’s Land Management Branch will be conducting prescribed burns today.
The smoke from the burn is visible from Texarkana so if you see heavy smoke coming from west of town don’t be alarmed.
Burns will continue through May on the forested areas of the depot as weather and conditions allow.
The burns are necessary for hazardous fuel reduction, ecosystem maintenance and restoration and wildlife habitat improvement.
