Retired officer arrested for making threats on social media

A retired Arkansas Highway Police officer was arrested Monday after threatening the lives of multiple law enforcement officers and President Obama on social media.

According to Nevada County Sheriff Danny Martin, on the 26th of Oct. 2015 Nevada County Sheriff’ Department received information of threats being made towards Police Officers on social media. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Department obtained a warrant for 55-year-old John William Vickers from Prescott, Ark. for the offense of Terroristic Threatening in the first degree.

According to Martin, due to the fact of the social media threats, the Arkansas State Police were contacted. Arkansas State Police activated their tactical unit and responded to the scene.

John William Vickers was taken into to custody without incident at his residence located on Nevada 48 south of Prescott.

Nevada County Sheriff, Prescott Police Department, Arkansas State Police and Arkansas State Police Criminal Division along with Federal officers were involved in the incident.
