For over twenty-five years, Lisa Kimble Harris, owner of Style Studio at 4040 Gibson Ln, Texarkana, has been styling hair and boosting the confidence of women and men around Texarkana.  Not only has Harris grown as a stylist during her journey to grow her business, she is also empowering women who have similar passions and goals.

The Style Studio boasts fourteen years of successful business in Texarkana, formerly located in a smaller shop on Kennedy Lane across from the Central Mall, but now occupies prime real estate behind Target.  It has been 3 years in their new location and Harris has much to show for it, with veteran stylists and an entourage of new stylist waiting to unleash their creative talents and ideas.

That is what the salon is known for, turning a blank canvas of hair into a vibrant, fresh look for any taste or preference.  With over twenty-one stylists on staff and a few students who shadow, there is always someone available to help and assist.

Harris originally opened the Style Studio in 2003 and fifteen years later a lot has changed, including the look of the salon.  Harris wanted the aesthetic and atmosphere of the Style Studio to reflect what their values are: wholesome and fun. Now, the new salon boats modern and industrial aspects, with an open floor plan and custom-made decor, like the mirrors designed and built by Harris’ father, Randy Kimble, and upbeat Christian or pop music playing overhead.

“The private rooms allow our more seasoned girls to have their own space and the open floor plan helps newer stylists when it comes to walk-ins and collaborating on cuts and color,” explained Harris.  The salon is very high-energy and fast-paced, making it important to have an inclusive environment where stylists can support one another.

She’s very proud of the ladies she has employed over the years, seeing them become successful on their own or alongside Harris.  Stylists like Jennifer Shoup and Angie Brooks have been there for over a decade. These ladies who work with Harris become family, and as a family, they help give back to the community.

Every year, The ladies from the Style Studio host Haircut for the Homies in Pocket Park located in Downtown Texarkana.  “This is a great way for us to bring local businesses together and give back to our homeless community,” Harris said. We give out free haircuts, meals, food and hygiene supplies to everyone who comes out. “

The salon also partners with local charities and businesses in town, like Phone Pros, to host events open to the public.  Harris also explained that every year they select a teacher for a back to school makeover and a deserving mom on Mother’s Day.

Whether Harris is making an individual client feel good about themselves with a new haircut and color or is helping bring a community together to give back to those less fortunate, Harris is using the Style Studio to bring it all together.
