A four hour police SWAT standoff standoff at the Links Apartments ended peacefully at 3 p.m. today.
According to Texarkana, Arkansas Public Information Officer Kristi Mitchell, police received a phone call informing them of a suicidal subject. The caller was the subject’s husband.
Due to the woman refusing to come to the door or communicate with police along with there being a 12 year old in the apartment the SWAT team was called in, said Mitchell.
After attempting to communicate and negotiate with the subject for several hours the decision to set a deadline of 3 p.m. was made.
At exactly 3 p.m. SWAT could be heard over police communications making entry. They advised moments after entering the subject was in custody.
According to Mitchell the woman was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
