TAMUT Eagles soccer will take the field this week

Texas A&M University-Texarkana Eagles soccer will take the field this week in two scrimmage events at Eagle Field on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.

 

All scrimmages are free and open to the public.

 

The A&M-Texarkana Eagles will take on the Northeast Texas Community College Eagles on Friday, Aug. 18, with the women set to scrimmage at 5 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m.  Originally scheduled in Mount Pleasant, the matches were moved to Texarkana because of field conditions.

 

On Saturday, Aug. 19, the A&M-Texarkana Eagles’ annual navy and white scrimmage will get underway with the women’s match at 5 p.m. and the men’s match at 7 p.m.

 

Under the leadership of Head Coach Don Koontz, now in his third season at A&M-Texarkana, the Eagles face a rigorous 20-game schedule that begins Aug. 25 when the women’s team takes on NCAA Division I Grambling State University in an 11 a.m. match at Eagle Field on the A&M-Texarkana campus.

 

That afternoon the women’s and men’s teams will face Bethel University at 5 and 7 p.m. in the second annual Border Cup tournament. The teams will then take on Bacone College at 5 and 7 p.m. on Aug. 26.

 

Now in its second year as a member of the Red River Athletic Conference, A&M-Texarkana will face its first RRAC opponent of the season on Sept. 23 as it takes on Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.

 

Homecoming is set for Oct. 14, with men’s and women’s matches against Louisiana State University Alexandria. Senior Day will be Oct. 28.

 

A&M-Texarkana has been selected to host the Nov. 10-11 Red River Athletic Conference Championship matches at Eagle Field.
