TAMUT Students hold candlelight vigil for Orlando victims

Students of Texas A&M University hosted a candlelight vigil Thursday evening in honor of the victims of the mass shooting at the Orlando nightclub.

Around 100 people gathered in front of TAMUT near the lake for the vigil.

The event started with a welcome by TAMUT student Travis Garvin and university president Dr. Emily Cutrer and student Alana Briley singing the National Anthem. Joseph Bales, District Manager Social Security Administration, was a guest speaker.

Richie Rutter-Reese, TAMUT Student Government President, led the lighting of candles and read the names of all 49 victims.

Texarkana, Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman placed a memorial wreath with TAMUT students.
