On Monday, July 2, 2018, Texarkana, Arkansas, Board of Directors heard concerns from both sides of the debate regarding the name change of Hobo Jungle Park located at 1000 Dudley St, Texarkana, AR 71854, to Ermer Dansby Pondexter Sports Complex.

The vote was unanimous by the Board of Directors, a decision that followed a $300,000 grant receipt for improvements to the park.  The grants come from The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism and the Advertising and Promotion Commission.

Citizens expressed both praise and dissatisfaction over the name change of Hobo Jungle Park at the regularly scheduled meeting on Monday. City Hall was overflowing with people waiting to speak or simply show their support in one way or another, with over 10 people speaking on the matter. Some shared sentimental memories that experienced, while others explained their vision for the community and how the name change and funds will positively impact the community.

TXK Today is encouraging people to share photos and stories from Hobo Jungle Park to commemorate its History.
