Texarkana College Earth Club Celebrates Earth Day

The Texarkana College Earth Club hosted an Earth Day celebration at the Environmental Studies Center Wednesday.

Biology professor and earth club sponsor Delores McCright opened the event and welcomed everyone to the Environmental Studies Center on the campus of Texarkana College.

Renee Stearns president of Texarkana College Earth Day told of the history of The Earth Club at Texarkana College which was started in 1992.

Dr. Kati Stoddard assistant professor of Environmental Science at Texas A&M University Texarkana spoke of ways that individuals could make a difference in the health of our planet.

Dr. Stoddard ended her talk titled ‘Good News For Our Future – Even With Global Warming and Pollution’ with a reminder to the crowd.  “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Dirt cake, green punch, and cupcakes were served courtesy of the Earth Club.
