Man Charged In 2025 Pedestrian Hit And Run
TEXARKANA, Texas–A Texarkana man has been charged with a felony in
connection with a March 2025 collision that left a pedestrian facing a head
injury and the possible loss of her leg.
Johnny Walker Jr. 49, has been charged in connection with a March 7, 2025,
collision that left a now 38-year-old woman suffering from life threatening
injuries, including a potential leg amputation. Investigators responded to
a scene at the 2300 block of New Boston Road shortly before 11 p.m.,
according to a probable cause affidavit.
The female pedestrian who had been struck was disoriented and unable to
provide investigators with information when they visited her at a Texarkana
hospital the day after she was hit and left injured on the roadside. By the
next day, the woman had been airlifted to a trauma hospital in Arkansas for
treatment, the affidavit said.
At the University of Arkansas Medical Center, the victim was placed on a
ventilator due to the severity of her wounds and doctors told detectives
they weren’t sure if they could save her right leg.
Video surveillance from area businesses allegedly showed a medium-sized SUV
strike the crash victim as she attempted to walk across New Boston Road.
Material left from pieces of a headlight during the collision led
investigators to conclude that the vehicle that struck the woman was a 2012
Chevrolet Traverse.
Using traffic cameras, police zeroed in on a vehicle associated with an
address on Pineknoll Road in Texarkana, Texas, the affidavit said.
On March 15, 2025, officers made a traffic stop of the suspected SUV and
determined that the owner had been letting her father, Johnny Walker, use
the car, the affidavit said. The owner’s daughter, Walker’s daughter, told
police that Walker had backed into another vehicle in March 2025 and had a
friend repair the damage.
Investigators noted that there was still damage to the Traverse when law
enforcement inspected it. The SUV was impounded and inside, a receipt for
parts purchased at a local auto salvage yard was found.
Walker allegedly denied running into a pedestrian, claiming damage
investigators were noting were from when he had backed into someone else’s
parked car.
Walker has been charged with collision causing serious bodily injury.
Walker faces two to ten years in prison if convicted. He is represented by
the Bowie County Public Defender’s Office.
The case has been assigned to 202nd District Judge John Tidwell.
