Texarkana Resources for the Disabled, Inc. on Track for Success with Union Pacific Grant

Texarkana, AR (10/12/2026) – Texarkana Resources for the Disabled, Inc. is the proud recipient of a Union Pacific Railroad Community Ties Giving Program grant. This generous investment will support Texarkana Resources’ Supported Employment and Workforce Development Program, helping individuals with disabilities overcome barriers to employment, develop valuable job skills, and secure meaningful, competitive employment opportunities within their communities across Arkansas.

“At Texarkana Resources, we believe that every individual, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to work, contribute, and experience the pride and independence that comes with meaningful employment,” said Jennifer Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Texarkana Resources for the Disabled, Inc. “For individuals with disabilities, finding employment often involves overcoming significant barriers, including limited transportation, accessibility challenges, and a lack of inclusive employment opportunities. This investment from Union Pacific will help us break down those barriers, connect individuals with employers who recognize their abilities, and create pathways toward greater financial independence and self-sufficiency. We are incredibly grateful to Union Pacific for recognizing the value of an inclusive workforce and investing in the potential of the individuals we serve.”

Union Pacific’s Community Ties Giving Program provides small- and medium-sized grants that align with the railroad’s priority cause areas in safety, workforce development, community vitality and environmental sustainability.

“Union Pacific is proud to support organizations doing the hard work on the ground to improve the quality of life for their communities, including those where our employees live and work across our 23-state network,” said Liisa Lawson Stark, vice president – Public Affairs, Union Pacific Railroad. “Investments in high-quality nonprofits yield growth, prosperity and well-being of the communities we serve.”

Through Texarkana Resources’ Supported Employment Program, the organization provides individualized employment services designed to help individuals with disabilities successfully enter and remain in the workforce. Services include career exploration, job readiness training, résumé development, interview preparation, job placement assistance, on-the-job coaching and ongoing employment support.

Funding from Union Pacific will strengthen these efforts by supporting workforce development activities, individualized employment assistance, transportation, and resources that help individuals overcome barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment.
