Texarkana woman killed after being struck by car on Highway 82

On Friday, December 2 at 5:55 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to two separate crashes on US Highway 82.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that a pedestrian was struck by a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis after running onto the roadway directly into the vehicle’s path. The vehicle was traveling west on US-82.

Immediately after, a second pedestrian, the husband of the first pedestrian, was struck by a second vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet pickup, while standing over his wife, in the middle of US-82.

The first pedestrian, Rebecca Ann Ragsdale, 38 years old of Texarkana, TX was pronounced dead on scene by Justice of the Peace Nancy Talley.

The second pedestrian, Lance R. Braley, 38 years old of Texarkana, TX was transported by Life-Net to St. Michael’s Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

The driver of the 1997 Mercury, Martha M. Templeton, of Hooks, TX, was not injured.

The driver of the 2008 Chevrolet pickup, Glenn M. Hicks, of Louisiana was not injured.
