TexAmericas Center welcomed a delegation from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for a two-day visit to its Texarkana campus Feb. 2-3, reinforcing the economic partnership between Texas and Tokyo.
The visit was conducted under the Texas-Tokyo Statement of Mutual Cooperation, signed in January 2022 between the State of Texas and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs. TexAmericas Center is one of 18 Texas economic development partners designated to help Tokyo-based small and medium-sized enterprises explore and expand within the Texas market.
“As a designated partner in the Texas-Tokyo cooperation, TexAmericas Center is focused on delivering real, operational results for companies entering the U.S. for the first time,” said Scott Norton, Executive Director and CEO of TexAmericas Center. “This visit allowed us to demonstrate how we can provide resources, foster smooth transitions for SME’s entering a new market and develop partnerships international companies need to launch and grow successfully in Texas.”
The delegation was led by Futoshi Negishi, Director for Overseas Market Development, Commerce & Industry Division, and included senior officials focused on overseas business development, international investment, and market entry support.
During the visit, TexAmericas Center leadership hosted discussions and tours focused on site readiness, logistics capabilities, workforce availability, incentive tools, and partnership support. Topics included soft-landing capabilities for Japanese SMEs, flexible real estate solutions, integrated logistics services, rail and transload operations, and access to federal, state, and local incentives.
TexAmericas Center operates one of the largest mixed-use industrial parks in the United States with nearly 12,000 acres and approximately 3.5 million square feet of industrial, warehouse, office, and logistics space. Business Facilities magazine ranked it the No. 5 industrial park in the country in 2025.
