Traffic accident results in arrest of city employee for DWI

The City of Texarkana, Texas has placed one employee on leave for driving while intoxicated. Christopher Wilgus, 43, was involved in a motor vehicle collision while driving a city vehicle at W. 40th Street and Rio Grande Avenue around 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

No injuries were reported in the minor traffic accident. When officers arrived, Wilgus performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Upon further investigation, Wilgus was taken into custody and charged with a Class A misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated.

Wilgus works in the cities’ parks and recreation department.

The punishment for a city employee driving while intoxicated is termination.
