According to the Texas Department of Transportation, recent traffic studies show that the intersection of US 82 and Spur 74 in Leary no longer warrants traffic signals.
Beginning Monday, April 4, the signals will be changed to flash yellow on US 82 and red on Spur 74, requiring only traffic on Spur 74 to stop. The signal heads will eventually be replaced with flashing beacons.
TxDOT will continue to monitor the intersection should future traffic patterns increase enough to warrant a full signal. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through this intersection until drivers become familiar with the new traffic pattern.
