According to radio traffic a car carrier eighteen wheeler set the grass on fire due to mechanical problems. It sounded as though a problem with the breaks caused it.

The fire departments had the grass fires out quickly and remained on scene about twenty minutes closing the inner lanes of I-30 in both directions.
