Two killed in wreck near DeKalb early Sunday morning

Two people were killed in a single vehicle accident Sunday morning near DeKalb, Texas.

At approximately 4:23 a.m. Sunday morning, DPS Troopers responded to a crash on US-82, in Bowie County, 4.5 miles west of DeKalb, TX.

According to a Texas DPS press release, 22-year-old Hiliberto Mancilla Gonzalez was driving west on US-82 in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado when he traveled off the roadway into the north side ditch of US-82.

Gonzalez then overcorrected to the left, causing the vehicle to travel across both the west and eastbound lanes of US-82 in a right side skid, and into the ditch on the south side of US-82. The truck rolled one time, striking a tree as it rolled with its cab area.

The driver, Hiliberto Mancilla Gonzalez, of Avery, TX, was pronounced dead on scene by Justice of the Peace Gerald Rankin. A passenger, Maria Del-Rosario Trujillo, 23 year of female of Jacksonville, TX, was also pronounced dead on scene by JP Gerald Rankin.

The crash was investigated by Trooper J. Boyd, and was assisted by Trooper H. Justin and Sergeant J. Ammons.
