United Way of Greater Texarkana, 94th Campaign Kick-off

Thursday the 14th will mark the start of the 94th campaign season for the United Way of Greater Texarkana,  Jennifer and Craig Harland of AEP/SWEPCO are this year’s campaign co-chairs. We have had several Pacesetter Campaigns and the results are promising. We are excited to have the Harland’s leadership. This year’s United Way Campaign video features nearly a dozen local middle school kids highlighting the importance of giving back to the community.

Our 2018 United Way of Greater Texarkana Campaign KICK-OFF is, Thursday, September 14th, NOON at the AEP/SWEPCO Annex Bldg. located at 808 East Loop Drive, Texarkana, TX 75501

Both mayors of Texarkana, USA; TXK Bob Bruggeman & TXK, AR Ruth Penney Bell will be on hand as the new Campaign Video is released.  Sam Martinez with will provide a short message of inspiration. Boy Scout Troop 16 will present the colors. The UWGT added a couple new agencies/programs this past Community Impact session; the additional community support received from last year’s campaign will help fund these programs. Health, Education & Financial guidance are the three primary focus areas awarded CI programs must address. The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library initiative locally will raise the bar by elevating the community-wide commitment to improve reading levels. An emphasis is placed on Long term solutions versus short-term fixes; sustainable life altering improvements aimed at improving the overall quality of life. The UWGT serves zip codes in 9 different counties officially, but our reach is much larger!

The goal this year remains at $900,000 although last year’s final numbers fell short. We’ll continue to push forward with the campaign so that we can improve the overall quality of life within our region. We live in a region were neighbors reach out to help neighbors in need.
