TISD Bus Involved in Minor Accident

Officers are investigating a two vehicle accident involving a school bus that occurred at the intersection of Pierre and Tucker Streets this morning at about 8:15, stated TTPD Sergeant Aaron Brower.

The TISD school bus, driven by Judy Whitehead, 69, was eastbound on Tucker Street and attempting a left turn onto Pierre Street. The left side of the bus clipped the front of a southbound Dodge 1500 Extended Cab Pickup that was pulling up to the stop sign the intersection, stated Brower.

Rodney Drew, 18, was driving the pickup truck. Both vehicles received only minor damage, stated Brower.

There were thirty high school age students on the bus at the time of the collision, of which two were subsequently transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center by LifeNet after reporting minor injuries, stated Brower.

Texas High administration contacted parents of students that were on the bus, stated TISD spokeswoman Tina Veal-Gooch.

The collision remains under investigation, stated Brower.
