Wake Village Man in Critical Condition After Object Struck His Head While Driving in Garland, Texas

November 4, 2014 | On October 24 at around 3 pm, a Wake Village man was seriously injured after being struck by another vehicle’s leaf spring that went through the windshield of his car, according to the Garland, Texas Police Department.

The TxDOT Crash Report identifies the man as Aubrey Ayers. According to the Garland Police Department, he was traveling on I-30 near Broadway Boulevard in Garland, Texas.

According to the Crash Report, the piece of metal struck the 32 year old Wake Village driver in the head. “Officer also found the sunglasses of the driver with one lens missing while the other lens had scuffmarks indicating that the object struck the driver between the eyes,” states the TxDOT Crash Report.

Ayers was transported to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. According to spokesperson Jennifer McDowell, he is in critical condition.

On Thursday, October 16 at around 7 pm, a refrigerant canister went through the windshield of pickup traveling on IH 635 near LaPrada and struck the passenger.  The 33 year old Dallas man was transported to Parkland Hospital with injuries to his head and chest.  He is still recovering from his injuries.

Investigators are asking for witnesses that may have seen either accident to contact the Garland Police Department.
