A SWEPCO lineman is thanking the Texarkana community for their patience and support during Winter Storm Fern restoration efforts.

Nathan H., a nearly five-year veteran lineman with Southwestern Electric Power Company, shared his perspective on the challenging storm response in a letter to customers. The storm brought ice, falling trees, dangerous road conditions, and freezing temperatures that complicated power restoration efforts across the region.

“I know how hard it is to be without power in those conditions, and I want you to know how much we appreciated your patience as we worked to restore service safely,” Nathan wrote.

During the restoration, Nathan worked alongside utility professionals from across the region, including his older brother, a meter electrician from Public Service Company of Oklahoma. While Nathan was in the field, his wife Zoe and 19-month-old daughter Summer were at home without power.

“They are the reason I take my time, follow safety procedures, and never take shortcuts,” he said. “I want to come home to them the same way I left, and I want that same outcome for every crew member working beside me.”

Nathan emphasized that community support made a difference during the long restoration hours. “Hearing thank you, receiving messages of support, or knowing customers were checking in on my family while I was still out working made the long hours and harsh weather worth it,” he said.

SWEPCO is reminding customers that outage verification letters are available for those who need documentation for their records or to request emergency food assistance from local organizations.

The company also warns property owners not to attempt tree removal within 10 feet of power lines and to stay away from downed lines or sparking equipment. Anyone who notices such hazards should call SWEPCO at 1-888-218-3919.
