What you need to know to vote tomorrow

It’s that time of the year again.

For those that have registered to vote tomorrow is a chance to make your vote count.

Red Lick and Leary voters will have the option to create Bowie County Emergency Services District No. 4 which will be used to fund C-5 volunteer fire department.

According to C-5 Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief John Alquist C-5 has been funded entirely by donations since its beginning in 1988.  Alquist said that the ESD will allow for a steady source of income to fund expenses.

According to Alquist the added funds should allow for the department to obtain a better rating making homeowners insurance cheaper for residents.  A $100,000 home would pay about $60 a year according to Alquist.

A local option election for Dekalb, New Boston, and Redwater voters will give them the option to sell beer and wine in their communities.

This year Texas voters have 7 constitutional amendments on the ballot.

  1. Changes the homestead exemption amount for school district property taxes from $15,000 to $25,000
  2. Exempts property from taxation for surviving spouses of totally disabled veterans
  3. Repeals the requirement that certain executive officials reside in the state capital, Austin, while in office
  4. Allows professional sports team charitable foundations to conduct charitable raffles
  5. Authorizes counties with 7,500 people or less to perform private road construction and maintenance
  6. Provides for a right to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife
  7. Allocates a portion of sales and use tax revenue to the state highway fund through 2032
