It’s that time of the year again.
For those that have registered to vote tomorrow is a chance to make your vote count.
Red Lick and Leary voters will have the option to create Bowie County Emergency Services District No. 4 which will be used to fund C-5 volunteer fire department.
According to C-5 Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief John Alquist C-5 has been funded entirely by donations since its beginning in 1988. Alquist said that the ESD will allow for a steady source of income to fund expenses.
According to Alquist the added funds should allow for the department to obtain a better rating making homeowners insurance cheaper for residents. A $100,000 home would pay about $60 a year according to Alquist.
A local option election for Dekalb, New Boston, and Redwater voters will give them the option to sell beer and wine in their communities.
This year Texas voters have 7 constitutional amendments on the ballot.
- Changes the homestead exemption amount for school district property taxes from $15,000 to $25,000
- Exempts property from taxation for surviving spouses of totally disabled veterans
- Repeals the requirement that certain executive officials reside in the state capital, Austin, while in office
- Allows professional sports team charitable foundations to conduct charitable raffles
- Authorizes counties with 7,500 people or less to perform private road construction and maintenance
- Provides for a right to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife
- Allocates a portion of sales and use tax revenue to the state highway fund through 2032
