Eberline Beatty Nugent, 97, went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2026, in Texarkana, Texas. Eberline was born in Ruston, Louisiana, on December 25, 1928, to Willie and Elbert Beatty. She was married for 57 years to Russell W. Nugent until his death in 2006.
Eberline graduated from Ruston High School and received her BS Degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She received her MS Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Eberline was a child of God. She loved fellow believers and took an active role in a Baptist Church in whichever town she lived. She was a member of Richmond Road Baptist church at the time of her death.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated educator. Devotion to her husband, children, and grandchildren defined her life, and she took great joy in helping others—particularly elementary-aged children.
She was active in education for 39 years in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. She served as a teacher and an administrator. She found deep satisfaction in helping children learn and always felt fortunate to have spent her productive years in a profession she truly loved. After retiring, she continued that commitment by volunteering in schools.
She loved traveling, gardening—particularly wildflowers—birdwatching, and cooking for her family. She especially enjoyed feeding and observing songbirds and hummingbirds.
Eberline was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her son, Russell W. Nugent, Jr. of Fayetteville, AR, and her daughter, Cynthia Nugent (Brian) Pfluger, Texarkana, TX., her grandsons, Michael (Candice) Nugent of Rogers, AR, Zachary Pfluger of Texarkana, TX., and Matthew Pfluger of Mount Pleasant, TX; her great-granddaughters, Zoey Nugent and Katelyn Nugent of Rogers, AR.
