March 26, 1947 – June 23, 2026

Mary Elizabeth Morton Sloan, age 79, of Texarkana, TX passed away peacefully at home on June 23rd, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. While her family mourns the loss of a beloved mother, Nana, relative, and friend, they find comfort in knowing that her suffering has ended and that she is finally at peace.

Mary was born on March 26, 1947 in Amarillo, Texas to Mack and Estelle Morton. She treasured time spent with family and her dearest friends, celebrated life’s milestones with pride, and created memories that will be cherished forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Wayne Sloan, her parents, and her brothers, Landon Burt Dowlen, Lee Melvin Dowlen and Larry Mack Morton.

Mary faced her illness with remarkable strength, grace, and determination. Through every challenge, she demonstrated resilience and courage, inspiring those around her with her unwavering spirit. Although cancer took much from her physically, it never diminished the love she shared or the light she brought into the lives of others.

Mary’s greatest joy came from the people she loved. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jason Henderson of Texarkana, Texas, and her three grandsons, Cannon, Jensen, and Brogan, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by a host of other relatives, many treasured friends; and her best friend of more than 20 years, Glenda Attaway, whose unwavering friendship was a blessing throughout her life.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her family takes comfort in the many beautiful memories she leaves behind and in the knowledge that she is no longer in pain.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Chambers Home Health & Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and support shown to Mary and her loved ones throughout her journey.

To honor her memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Dallas Hope Lodge, whose generosity provided a home away from home during her cancer treatment, or to the Redwater High School Dragon Band, reflecting her unwavering support of her grandsons and the activities they loved.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 1st at 1 pm at Oasis Life Church, 3700 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, TX with Rev. Tim Montgomery officiating.
