Ruth Ann Sturgeon, age 81, of Hooks, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2025. She was born on March 21, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, to Thelma and Ewald Beyer.
Ruth devoted 22 years of her professional life to working as an accountant with Steak and Ale Corporation, a role she took great pride in. Outside of work, Ruth found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved sewing and decorating cakes for family and friends, often sharing her talents to celebrate life’s special moments. Music filled her home as she played the organ and piano, and she especially cherished traveling the open road in the RV with her beloved husband. Ruth had a deep love for animals and never missed an opportunity to care for them.
Above all, Ruth will be remembered for her kind heart and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched many lives with her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Ewald Beyer.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 64 years, Rodney Sturgeon; her children, Pamela Preslee, David Sturgeon and wife Jennifer, and Emily Norris and husband Ray; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; and a host of family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Sundbye officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Texarkana Funeral Home-Texas, from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Der Stadt Friedhof, located at 501 E Schubert St. in Fredericksburg, Texas.
