November 1, 1940 – February 13, 2026
Shirley Ann Beal, 85, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026. She was born on November 1, 1940, in Grenada, Mississippi, to Lenora and Dewey Horton. Shirley lived life on her own terms. She loved the thrill of a trip to the casino, the excitement of traveling, and especially the joy of going on cruises. She enjoyed seeing new places, meeting new people, and making memories wherever she went. If there was fun to be had, Shirley was ready for it. To her family, she was the heart of every gathering — loving, caring, and compassionate, but never one to hold back her opinions. She told it like it was, and that was part of her charm. Her sass, quick wit, and strong spirit made her unforgettable. She loved deeply and protected fiercely. Her presence filled a room, and her laughter will echo in the hearts of those who knew her. She was preceded in death by husband, James Arthur Beal, parents, Lenora and Dewey Horton. Left to treasure her memories are daughter, Tina Holmes; son, ElDepalo Porter; grandchildren, Aarica Ray-Boyd and Tiffanie Marsh; great-grandchildren, Kendrick Sauls, Sha’Tiya Sauls, Shaun-Paul Marsh, Jeramiah Marsh, and Destiny Davis; longtime best friend, Velma Spatt; and a host of extended family and dear friends. Each of them carries a piece of her strength, her love, and yes — her sass. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Chapelwood Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Hill officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chapelwood Funeral Home. Though she may be gone from our sight, Shirley’s bold spirit, warm heart, and unforgettable personality will live on in the stories we tell and the love she planted in each of us.
Arrangements are under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
