Terry Dwayne Brooks, age 73, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Terry was born on January 11, 1953, in Texarkana to Thelma Florene Brooks and Shirley Marshal Brooks, where he would spend his life building deep roots and lasting relationships.
Terry dedicated many years of hard work as a plant manager at Texana Tank Car, a role he took great pride in. Known for his strong work ethic and steady leadership, he believed in providing for his family and setting an example through dedication and integrity.
When he wasn’t working, Terry found peace outdoors, especially while hunting. He cherished the quiet moments of nature just as much as the lively ones spent with family. A man of strong Christian faith, Terry lived by his values daily. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a dependable provider who always put his family first. To those who knew him best, Terry was steady, faithful, and full of quiet strength.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Thelma Florene Brooks, and his sisters, Peggy Jaynes and Susan Starling.
Terry leaves behind a legacy of love and family. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Kay Brooks; sons, Stacy Brooks and wife Tessa, and Kelly Brooks; grandchildren, Kayla Cato, Hailey Madina, Triston Brooks, Ethan Brooks, Brilee Brooks, Belle Carlile, and Rush Clark; four great-grandchildren; his father, Shirley Marshal Brooks; siblings, Sherry Whitlock, Toni Wright, Brenda Rekolpf, Jimmy Brooks, Ricky Brooks, and George Brooks; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Chapelwood Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Schreve officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A private family interment will follow.
