On Friday, April 1st, Pam and Gregg Orr donated $25,000 to establish a new endowed fund to support Texarkana College’s Presidential Scholarship program. This scholarship program was introduced in March 2015 to reward hard-working students from our region who wish to pursue their goal of obtaining a higher education credential. Because the gift was given as an endowment, students will receive scholarships from this fund in perpetuity.

“We are so grateful to the Orr family for making an investment in the future of this community,” said Katie Andrus, Director of the Texarkana College Foundation. “An educated workforce is so important, and this scholarship will award students who are working hard to make a better life for their families. The Orr family has created a legacy at Texarkana College.”

Eighty-eight students were named as Presidential Scholars in 2015-2016. To qualify, students must earn a high school GPA of 3.25 or higher and graduate at the top of their class. To continue receiving the scholarship, students must maintain a 3.25 GPA at Texarkana College. To date, Texarkana College has received 175 applications for the 2016-2017 Presidential Scholarship program.
“As a local businessman, I understand the importance of an educated workforce,” Gregg Orr said. “I am proud to support these students who will continue to support our local economy many years into the future.”
