Parents arrested after 1 month old infant found suffering from multiple fractures

On Wednesday, February 14 at approximately 1:00am, Miller County Deputies responded to Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana regarding a 1 month old female who was suffering from multiple injuries. Emergency Room Physicians reported that the victim was suffering from multiple fractures and required transport to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. The victim was transported by Arkansas Children’s Hospital Angel One medical helicopter from St. Michael’s for specialized treatment of her injuries.

According to Miller County Sheriff’s Office, further examination revealed that the 1 month old infant was suffering from multiple rib fractures, as well as injuries to the pelvic region, leg and possible skull abnormalities. She was admitted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital where she is undergoing treatment at this time.

Miller County lead investigator Patsy DeHart, working in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Human Services and the Arkansas State Police immediately commenced a criminal investigation. On Thursday, February 15 at approximately 3 p.m., members of the Miller County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions arrested Charles Uribe, 28 and Crystal Uribe, 23 of Miller County on charges of Battery 1st Degree. Both were transported to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where they were booked, and where they remain on a $250,000.00 bond. The investigation remains open, pending additional interviews and examination of additional evidence in the case.
