One Dead in Morning Shootout, Suspect Arrested

According to Texarkana,  Texas Police Stacy Darrell Vaughn, 32, of Texarkana, Texas was fatally shot during an exchange of gunfire in the 2000 block of West 16th Street early Thursday morning.

At approximately 8:20 this morning, Texarkana, Texas Police responded to a shooting call at that location. When officers arrived, they found Vaughn lying in the street with a gunshot wound in his upper chest. The suspect had fled the scene on foot.

According to Texarkana, Texas Police Sergeant Mike Jones, a short time later, officers located Joshua D. Ray, 25, also of Texarkana, Texas in the 1800 block of Bowie Street.

Ray was taken into custody and is expected to be charged with Criminal Homicide in Vaughn’s death Jones said.

According to police radio traffic there was a disturbance around 7:45 a.m. in which Vaughn was sited with a gun in the area around Taco Bell in the 1600 block of New Boston Road.

Two semi- automatic handguns were recovered at scene.

Police say detectives are still investigating the cause of the shooting.
