The Texarkana Texas Police Department has concluded an in depth internal affairs investigation into law enforcement actions taken during the early morning hours of December 15, 2014, when Mr. Dennis Grigsby was fatally wounded. That report was submitted to Chief Dan Shiner for internal evaluation.
Based upon that review, Chief Shiner has concluded that Officer Brent Lawing’s use of force was consistent with departmental policy and within the course and scope of his duties as a police officer. Based on this determination, Officer Lawing will return to duty effective February 2, 2014 and will be assigned to the Bi-State Justice Center, pending completion of the Texas Rangers’ investigation and findings. Once that investigation is completed, the case will then be submitted to the Bowie County District Attorney.
