Ashley Elliott of Lewisville, Arkansas, has been selected as a Horatio Alger National Scholar. Elliot, a Lafayette County High School senior and University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana concurrent credit student, is one of only 106 high school seniors nationally recognized as a Horatio Alger National Scholar and one of just two recipients in the state of Arkansas. “This is a definite tribute to her determination and hard work,” said Edessa Walton, UAHT Financial Aid and Dual Pell Analyst.

For being selected as a Horatio Alger National Scholar, Ashley will receive a $25,000 college scholarship to be used to pursue a bachelor’s degree, and an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2018 Horatio Alger National Scholars Conference in Washington, D.C.

As one of the nation’s foremost college financial aid programs, the Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program is one of the major scholarship programs nationally that specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome significant obstacles in their young lives. The scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger Members who, like the scholars, have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders.
