Walmart to open 2 Neighborhood Market Stores in Texarkana

Rumors have been going around for years now that Texarkana Texas is getting a new grocery store, from Whole Foods to Kroger. It appears it is finally going to happen at the corner of Summerhill Road & College Drive. According to sources Walmart will be building a Neighborhood Market Store on the north side of College Drive across from McLarty Ford taking out the QuickLane oil change that is there now and appears closed.

These smaller stores are meant to “woo shoppers with easier parking, less crowded aisles and quicker checkout.” Walmart Market stores offer a variety of products including a full line of groceries.

A city official also mentioned at last nights City Council Meeting that a grocery store was going to be placed in that location when discussing another issue.

Another location at Richmond Rd. & Moores Ln. is said to be also be in the works.

I’ve heard there’s going to be one in Redwater, also.

The parking at the Summerhill location isn’t easier, nor is the checkout quicker. Want quicker checkouts? Man more checkout stations! And carve off the curbs and widen the entrance to the parking lot. You almost brush against cars when pulling in!
