The Texarkana Arts & Historic District announced the launching of Texarkana’s first bike share program.

Originally created and funded through grant dollars received from the Union Pacific (UP) Community Foundation, UPcycle Texarkana is a bike share program aimed at giving tourists and other downtown visitors a way of navigating and exploring the area in a fast, fun, and healthy manner.

The program currently consists of 12 bikes that can be rented from the Museum of Regional History, located at 219 N. State Line Avenue, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Sundays. Cost is $5 per day and bike locks and helmets are available with each rental.

To help accommodate the UPcycle program, 12 Arts & Historic District bike racks have been installed throughout downtown Texarkana at locations including the Perot Theater, the Museum of Regional History, the Texarkana Public Library, the Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council (TRAHC) building, the Silvermoon on Broad, and several others.

To celebrate UPcycle Texarkana’s launch, guided bike tours of the downtown Texarkana’s Arts & Historic District will be offered twice a day on two dates, November 18th and December 2nd.

Tours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will begin and end at the Museum of Regional History. While available, bike share bikes will be limited; participants are encouraged to bring and use their own bicycle.
