Gifts to Harvest Regional Food Bank matched up to $25,000 through Sept. 30

September is Hunger Action Month, and Harvest Regional Food Bank is kicking off the annual campaign with a matching gift opportunity that doubles the impact of donations made through the end of the month.

A generous supporter is matching gifts to the food bank up to $25,000, the organization announced. Every donation made before Sept. 30 will help provide twice as much food for neighbors facing hunger — each $10 gift, for example, will double to help provide 100 meals.

Hunger Action Month is an annual campaign dedicated to driving awareness and inspiring action to help end hunger in America, at both a national scale and in local communities. In northeast Texas and southwest Arkansas, one in five individuals is food insecure, and among children, one in four faces hunger. Arkansas and Texas are both ranked in the top 10 states for food insecurity.

Sept. 9 is Hunger Action Day, when efforts across the country are focused for greater impact.

Thousands of people turn to Harvest Regional Food Bank for food every month. They are neighbors — many are young children or seniors, and others have lost jobs or suffered health crises, the food bank said.

With the matching gift in place, the food bank said Hunger Action Month donations will be doubled in impact as the organization works to build a community where everyone can thrive.
