Gavin Klar Named National Merit Semifinalist

Congratulations to senior Gavin Klar on being named a National Merit Semifinalist!

Trinity Christian School is proud to announce that senior Gavin Klar has been named a Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, one of the most prestigious academic honors a high school student can achieve.

Gavin joins a select group of students nationwide. This year, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) named 16,000 Semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. This number represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors. These are academically talented seniors who now have the opportunity to continue competing for roughly 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $24 million, which will be offered next spring.

To advance to the Finalist level, Semifinalists like Gavin must fulfill several additional requirements. About 95 percent of Semifinalists nationwide are expected to reach Finalist standing, and roughly half of all Finalists go on to win a National Merit Scholarship and earn the title of Merit Scholar.

Being named a National Merit Semifinalist places Gavin among a small, select group of students recognized for exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. It is a distinction that reflects years of dedication both inside and outside the classroom.
