You can now text emergency messages directly to 911 in the Texarkana area.
According to Texarkana, Texas Police Department, “this is a great tool that will now allow us to communicate with you in those rare critical situations where you can’t safely talk – such as if there were an intruder inside your home. However, the preferred way to reach us is still to call 9-1-1 so you can talk directly to the dispatcher if that is an option.”
To text 911, simply enter 911 into the TO field. Your message should contain the location of the emergency and the type of help needed. Please keep in mind that the system can’t accept any pictures or video.
