Man crashes fleeing from police gets arrested for aggravated robbery

Texarkana, Texas Police arrested Tyrone Owens after he crashed his Jeep Compass into a truck at MLK and Stateline Ave. Tuesday afternoon.

According to police he was wanted for Aggravated Robbery in Arkansas and fled after officers recognized him driving down the road. The ensuing pursuit wound up going on both sides of the stateline, before the decision to end the pursuit was made because of how dangerously he was driving. A couple minutes later he ran the red light at MLK and hit a truck.

Owens was quickly taken in custody after a short foot chase by TTPD, Texas DPS troopers and Texarkana Arkansas police officers – arrived on the scene. The people in the truck he hit were not hurt in the crash.

Owens has been booked into the Bi-State Jail for the Aggravated Robbery warrant, as well as a new felony Evading in a Vehicle charge. There may also be additional charges filed against him in Arkansas.
