Man crashes into bedroom while fleeing from police

A Texarkana man is in jail after crashing into a woman’s bedroom overnight while fleeing from police.

Texarkana, Texas Police attempted to stop a vehicle near River Crossing Apartments for suspected criminal mischief when the driver fled from officers.

The driver ended up crashing into the bedroom of a home in the 100 block of E. 19th Street. The resident was in the bed at the time but did not suffer from any major injuries. They were taken to a local hospital by private vehicle where they were later released.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Friday morning.

Cleophus Ross was taken into custody by Texarkana, Texas officers after fleeing a short distance on foot from the crash scene. An officer deployed their JPX pepper gun while apprehending Ross.

Ross has been charged with misdemeanor fleeing on foot, felony fleeing in a vehicle, leaving the scene of accident, and obstruction of government operations for refusal to identify himself to police. A hold has also been placed on Ross for fleeing in Texas.
