Man Found Dead After Early Morning Shooting in Hope; Person of Interest in Custody

HOPE, Ark. — An investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death inside a residence early Thursday morning.

According to the Hope Police Department, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of North Cedar Street at approximately 4:30 a.m. on January 8, 2026.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers entered the residence and discovered a male victim lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services arrived shortly after and confirmed that the victim was deceased.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending notification of his next of kin.

Police stated that one person of interest is currently in custody but have not provided their identity. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details regarding a potential motive or the specific circumstances leading to the shooting have been released at this time.
