Due to predicted severe weather Friday afternoon the following closings or early releases have been announced:
- Texas A&M Texarkana – Closing at 1 p.m.
- Ashdown Public Schools – 1 p.m. release
- Hooks ISD – 1 p.m. release
- DeKalb ISD – 2 p.m.
- Genoa Central Elementary – 1:15 p.m. release
- Hubbard ISD – 2 p.m.
- University of Ark. Hope & Texarkana – campus closing at 2:30 p.m.
Strong to severe thunderstorms will be developing early this afternoon with the severe weather threat further intensifying by mid to late afternoon through this evening.
All modes of severe weather will be possible, including the threat of potentially strong and long track tornadoes. Large hail and damaging winds are also significant threats as well with the possibility of discrete supercells initially during the afternoon with very large hail.
