15 to 20 Acre Grass Fire in Hooks

December 9, 2014 | An individual started burning a leaf pile and left. When the resident came back, the field was on fire, stated Hooks Fire Chief Don Buchanan. The fire ended up burning 15 to 20 acres. The alarm came in a 1:14 pm on December 9, 2014. Hooks Fire Department extinguished the fire in 63 minutes, stated Buchanan.

Buchanan stated that citizens do not need burn leaves when it is windy.

The wind is drying out everything. The top is really dry right now. The fire today would have been only a three acre fire if there was not any wind today, stated Buchanan.
