Four teachers at Texas High School will soon put some of the top tools in the nation to work in their classrooms.

In January, they will travel to San Diego to learn some of the most advanced teaching techniques in the nation at the Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers Conference sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Nominated by head of THS’ English department and Texas Teacher of the Year Monica Washington, each teacher chosen has a unique gift for reaching their students, whether it be building relationships or creativity and integrating the children’s interests into educational lessons.

The four said they are excited and humbled to be nominated, as only 200 teachers across the country will attend the three-day, teacher-designed workshops and national collaboration event.

During the conference, the teachers will integrate, build and share ideas with educators from all different settings.
