Texarkana College has received a $25,000 donation from alumni couple, Sal and Aven Williamson to provide scholarships to nursing students.

This donation provided by the Williamson’s will fund a new endowed scholarship to support TC’s Presidential Scholarship program. The Presidential Scholarship allows top graduating high school seniors to attend TC tuition-free for two years.

Sal Williamson, a former nursing student at TC and husband, Aven Williamson, also a graduate from Texarkana College presented the $25,000 check to Texarkana College during a ceremony held October 3, in the Nelson Administration Building Lobby on the TC campus.

“We’ve always been very close to Texarkana College,” said Aven Williamson during the check ceremony.

According to Aven Williamson the decision to donate to Texarkana College was more than just a personal decision based on being a former student at the college. “It was a personal decision, it was a business decision, and it was a community decision for us to help,” explained Williams.

The Williams hope that their donation will help Texarkana College students achieve their education goals and allow them to make a positive difference by enriching their personal lives, the community, and the United States of America.
