ATLANTA, Texas – Someone called 9-1-1 to reach the Atlanta, Texas, Police Department at about four p.m. Saturday, advising police of “shots fired” in the 400 block of Grigsby Street in Atlanta. About two minutes later, yet another 9-1-1 call came in from Charles Sasser, 61, of Atlanta.
Upon arrival, officers learned that Sasser had been shot in the foot. He told police that the person who shot him was L.G. Neal, 75, of Atlanta.
Texas Department of Public Safety officers assisted the Atlanta Police Department and located Neal as he was returning to his house. Neal was taken into custody and is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Sasser was transported to Christus St. Michael Healthcare System in Texarkana. He was still in the emergency room at the time of publication. TXK Today will update this story as more details become available.
