Better Block Texarkana will return for a second year to downtown Texarkana this Saturday, May 16th, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. to breathe life back into the Broad Street area in conjunction with Railfest and the grand opening of the Texarkana Texas Farmers’ Market and the Texarkana Arkansas Farmers’ Market, and a car show at the Four States Auto Museum. This mission of Better Block TXK is to provide an experiential hands-on look at what Texarkana’s downtown could become.

This event, which is free and open to the public, will be a one day “pop-up” block transforming the street into a pedestrian and cyclist-friendly area, complete with landscaping touches and vendor-occupied storefronts for the public to browse. Vendors include retail, art, and general interest along with a bounce house, face painting, tours, wine tasting and much more. The Farmers’ Markets will open at 7:00 a.m. and remain open until sold out.

Better Block TXK is again being organized by community activist Lee Medley, along with support from the City of Texarkana, Texas, the City of Texarkana, Arkansas, Main Street Texarkana, Greater Texarkana Young Professionals and the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, along with representatives from the business community.
